Elon Musk remove the ‘Blue Tick’ of non-paying Twitter users

Elon Musk remove the ‘Blue Tick’ of non-paying Twitter users- Finally, Elon Musk has announced that he will withdraw the ‘blue checkmark’ (blue tick) of non-paying (legacy) users on April 20. He said this through a tweet saying that this will be the ‘last’ date.

If the company moves forward as Musk has said, only the accounts of payees, businesses and government agencies and officials will have a verification mark.

Earlier, the company had announced last month that the checkmark of non-paying users would be removed on April 1. That deadline, like every other deadline Musk had promised, was cut short and nothing happened. He gave an interview to the BBC on Wednesday.

Asked how removing the verification code would affect the spread of fake news, Musk said, “I think the media is the driver of misinformation, as opposed to what they want it to be.”

At the beginning of this April, in a tweet that has now been deleted, Musk mentioned that the legacy (already) verified account company was going to give a few weeks’ discount.

Last month, Musk also said that Twitter’s ‘For You’ feature will stop recommending accounts that are not verified from April 15.

Recently, the company changed the label that appears when someone clicks on the verification mark. It states, “This account is verified because it has purchased Twitter Blue or is already a verified account.”

This has made it difficult for users to distinguish between those who have purchased Twitter Blue or those who already have a verified account. In addition, Musk is pushing businesses and media brands to pay $1,000 a month for institutional verification.

At the same time, he removed the verification mark of the New York Times after he refused to pay the money. Apart from the New York Times, other publications like the Washington Post and Politico have also said that they will not pay for verification.
