Seen the scene of the star swallowing the planet, the earth has to face the same situation!
For the first time in history, Lashastri has seen the sight of a star swallowing a planet. Such a scene was seen 12,000 light years away from Earth.
In May 2020, scientists found a sudden increase in the amount of light in the star. They then conducted a survey using the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) at Caltech’s Palomar Observatory. Scientists used Hubble Space Telescope and Keck Observatory to study this in detail.
After a year of observation and research, the fact that the star swallowed a planet came out. This planet was probably a Jupiter-sized gas giant, which was seen orbiting close to the star. It is mentioned in a report published in the journal Nature on Wednesday that the star’s atmosphere pulled it towards itself.
What scientists have shown is that the planet, bigger than Jupiter, was broken by the star’s gravity and the broken part was pulled towards it by the star’s atmosphere. This discovery is the first and direct evidence of a star swallowing a planet.
Also, it has brought out the fact that how the development of star and planetary system is going on. Apart from that, it has given evidence about the life cycle of a star and its surrounding planets.
Scientists from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and California University of Technology were involved in the research. Which was led by Kishalay De from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
“I first read in high school that the planets of the solar system will merge into the sun in the future,” MIT’s Kisha Dee told CNN, “so it’s great that we’re witnessing an example of this happening in real time.”
In May 2020, scientists discovered a sudden increase in light in the constellation Aquila. Named JetTF J1903+ 0227, the star’s brightness increased by a factor of 500 in a few days. Then the team started studying and a year later they discovered that the star had swallowed the planet.
The planet, which is the size of Jupiter, was first torn apart by the gravity of that star. Astronomers have stated that the broken part was consumed by the star. The same event will be repeated on Earth in the next five billion years. Scientists argue that when the sun grows and turns into a red giant, then it will swallow the planets in its orbit.
