Now you can’t skip ads for 30 seconds while watching YouTube on TV

For users who watch YouTube on a large screen, the company is going to introduce an unskippable ad of up to 30 seconds. The company made this announcement at the ‘YouTube Broadcast‘ program held in New York on Wednesday.

The company has made two important announcements that will impact users watching YouTube on smart televisions. First of all, the company has said that it will keep ads that cannot be removed for up to 30 seconds while watching videos that are preferred by more users on YouTube.

According to the company, this rule will be applied to videos in the ‘YouTube Select Umbrella’ (videos in a special category) category. In other words, this rule will be applied only to videos that have a lot of likes, comments, and views.

For the convenience of users, the company has taken such a decision saying that instead of showing two 15-second advertisements, it is more suitable to show one 30-second advertisement. Compared to other devices, users who watch YouTube on TV tend to watch any content continuously. Due to this, the company says that the new advertising rules are suitable for TV.

Secondly, the company has said that it is going to introduce ‘Pause Ads’ feature for users watching YouTube on smart TV. Under this feature, the ad will be displayed when the user pauses the video while watching. In this case, you can pause the video and watch the ad at a time that suits you. The company has not revealed when these features will be available.
