Typhoon Hilary, a powerful Class 4 storm at the moment, is moving closer to Southern California.
A first hurricane warning has been issued by the Public Typhoon Community for a large portion of southwestern California, extending from the deserts of San Diego to the mountains of the San Bernardino Province and onto Catalina Island.
According to the tropical storm location, a typhoon watch indicates that hurricane conditions, defined as more than 39 mph assisted breezes, are likely to develop in around 48 hours.
Hilary is predicted to travel up the Baja California coast before making landfall in Southern California late on Sunday.
