Gurung Rashtriya Parishad’s request to arrest Bhim Upadhyay
The Tamu Huyul Chong Dhin Garung Rashtriya Parishad Chitwan has requested the arrest of Bhim Upadhyay, the former secretary of the Government of Nepal, for posting a photo of Purnima Gurung of Chitwan on Facebook, saying that he has harmed the traditional behavior, food, religion and culture of the Tamu (Gurung) caste. In a press release issued on Sunday, the Parishad requested the arrest of Santosh Rizal and Bhim Upadhyay of Kailali Tikapur, who kept Purnima Gurung’s photo.
“We strongly condemn the acts of caste hatred, social harmony and communal unity, insult to caste customs and culture, and we strongly demand that the persons involved in such acts, Bhim Upadhyay and Santosh Rizal, be arrested immediately and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” in a statement issued by the council. It is written, “Otherwise, we will inform all concerned that we will be forced to gradually announce protest programs while getting justice to the victims.”
