Barry Humphries dies at 89Barry Humphries, an Australian comedian entertainer, widely known for his comic character Dame Edna Everage, has died at the age of 89. 

As report says, Barry had been hospitalized in Sydney after being his hip surgery problem in March.

His widely popular art was the biggest hit in the United Kingdom in the 1970s and became his own chat show,

Edna Everage Experience, in the late 1980s.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese showed tribute to Humphries as news of his death came out.

Humphries was inspired to develop the character after growing up in his home Australia and observing his mother and other suburban housewives. He was born in Melbourne, migrated to the UK in 1959, and made his West End theatrical debut there.

Humphries also developed the booze-addled ambassador Sir Les Patterson and the always grumpy Sandy Stone.

In 2003’s Finding Nemo, a Pixar animated film, he also provided the voice of the shark Bruce. He also made appearances in the 1967 comedy Bedazzled, Spice World, The Hobbit, and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.

One of the first to pay tribute to Humphries today was Australia’s prime minister Anthony Albanese, who described him as “a great wit, satirist, writer and an absolute one-of-a-kind, he was both gifted and a gift.”
