After successfully landing Chandrayaan-3 on the South Pole of the Moon, India is now going to study the Sun.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch the Aditya L-1 mission to study the Sun on September 2, BBC Hindi reported. ISRO informed that L-1 rocket will be launched from Sriharikot on September 2 next month at 11:50 am.

ISRO has said that this is India’s first space mission to study the Sun. ISRO has also informed the general public that the launch of Sriharikot will be broadcast live.

According to ISRO, the spacecraft will be sent into a halo orbit around the L-1 point of the Sun-Earth system, which is about 1.5 million kilometers from the Earth.

When placed in a coronal orbit around the L-1 point, it can observe the Sun continuously without any eclipse. The spacecraft will carry seven payloads that will study the photosphere, chromosphere and outermost layers of the Sun.
